Aikido in Zürich

Aikido is a Japanese martial art that was developed by Morihei Ueshiba (1883-1969). The roots of this art lie in the tradition of Bushido, the way of the warrior.

The techniques of the samurai in fighting with sword (Katana), lance (Yari), stick (Jo) and knife (Tanto), as well as the fighting techniques without weapons from jujutsu, were further developed into a pure form of defense.

WEAPON WORK

In the early years of Aikido, every student already had a background in various budo arts or had even been involved in serious fights. O’Sensei himself had come into contact with war. He himself mastered various weapons schools and also taught soldiers who used this knowledge in an emergency.
