Aikido

AIKIDO IS A PHILOSOPHY OF LIFE

Aikido is a Japanese martial art developed by Morihei Ueshiba (1883–1969) from the roots of Bushido. Drawing on unarmed jujutsu principles, as well as the sword (bokken), staff (jo), and knife (tanto), he created a clear and highly efficient form of self-defense. However, the focus is not on combat or winning, but on personal development. Perception, posture, interaction, and the ability to neutralize an opponent’s force are practiced just as much as the techniques themselves. This holistic approach forms the foundation of this extraordinary art.
Ai stands for harmony and bringing together, Ki for energy, and Do for the way. The first step on your journey begins here.
